Thanks for watching!

Fikrlar

  • The exposed seam on the face kinda works as a nose since glurp doesn't have his own nose

  • “Where do you go dancing?” “Bulgarian Disco”. Made my day 😂👌

  • Your puppetry skills make this an even more enjoyable video.ni've watched it at least 5x already 😂

  • Those are called "safety eyes", Adam. The point of the ratcheting stalk and ring backing is to prevent little kids from ingesting the eyes on stuffed toys and choking.

  • My fav show. This man is what you call waste of talent! He could be doing some great things for earth n ppl n the the future etc. Instead he is making puppets.

  • Would love to order it, sadly shipping to Germany is as expensive as the kit itself :( . Does someone know a shop in Europe who sells similar-ish kinda kits?

  • When using a whip stitch, use thread about 3x as long as your seam.

  • I used to have a large bird marionette I made out of a large peanut butter jar and a feather boa. It was awesome until my cats chewed its legs off.

  • Hand sewing is like knurling in how meditative it is.

  • Sewer's trick! Your hand-sewing thread should never be longer than your forearm; it protects your shoulder from repetitive strain injuries and it take less time to replace your thread more often than it takes to pull your arm all the way back on every stitch through out an entire project.

  • Great kit!

  • Love the blue tongue :P

  • Those grown individuals now who grew up on fragal rock from Jim Henson days. Doozers etc my memory serves red was one sprocket the dog ah gees traveling mat . I’d hate to know what conditions those puppets are in today. Locked in a trunk forgotten

  • ok, last comment on this build, i promise! i love how glurp turned out! you're right, adam--very orangutan-ish. and he def needs a red tongue and uvula. i once made a dinner plate-sized "dust bunny" puppet (because i knew it was going to get dusty) with posable ears for the express purpose of giving a puppet a uvula that would drop down whenever the puppet said, "aaahhhhhh!"

  • 11:40 i keep pausing to comment! i can't thank you enough for showing this build. i make finger puppets, and i never thought to use an x-acto to cut out the faux fur...i just used the tip of very sharp scissors to cut the backing only. i also figured out to fold the floof inside, clear of the seam allowance, when i sew. can't wait to see how glurp turns out!

  • "monkey boy"? is that a reference to my all-time favorite movie?

  • PUPPET KITS????? TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!

  • FYI, fellow viewers, Glurp costs $54.95, the upgrade kits (arm rods, eye sheet, and nose sheet) each cost $9.95, and a puppet stand costs $19.95. All in all, very affordable! The upgrade kits don't need to be bought more than once per puppet, too.

  • This is exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks!

  • Someone tell Adam that he needs one of the X-Acto knives that has the swivel for the blade so he can cut in any direction and really nail those curves. I was noticing a lot of straight lines on the semi-circular portions of the build and figured Adam would like the tip.

  • They need a Purple Glurp!

  • Maybe i shouldn't talk about recreational glue sniffing :))))

  • Adam, you would LOVE the video "the secret life of the sewing machine remastered". Search for that one on UZfire and enjoy. uzfire.info/camera/video/baTZfGaJtLF9aY8

  • I’d turnt the seem on his face into a big acar

  • I say keep the blue tongue but give him a blue nose.

  • Adam, was your dad Col. Sanders?

  • what an absolute delight of a video. I could watch you interact with a puppet all day Adam.

  • Stop short of adding the arm rods?

  • I was actually expecting a reference to "The Crafsman" when Adam was playing with his puppet. Okay ya'll I'm outa here...

  • A new monster for Alien 2021 a parody, from which boy part will it pop out from ? or is it the vaccination monster killing a certain virus ?

  • PUPPETS!!!! 🤏😁🤘

  • It's amazing how with no eyes and no arms/hands it already has a personality.

  • shame international shipping is so costly - more than the cost of the kit in some cases

  • If the 'Last Samurai" met "Falling Down", you'd reach the natural evolution of Adam's STL doppelganger!

  • I am glad to see that I am not the only one who hand sews like that...

  • so with this video about puppets and Adam savages love for them and the space suite in the back round alot makes me think Adam Savage should make a space themed puppet eventually as a idea to marry those two intrest together for abuild idea thums this up so Adam Savage can see

  • What a joy that was!

  • Awesome puppet! As a puppet maker, it’s fun to see someone else go through the process. Thanks for sharing. Now, about that Iron Giant on the floor… is that a custom build?

  • More than you making it, I can't express how much joy it gave me to see you engage with that puppet! Actual joy. I'm actually smiling while typing this.

  • Back in the 80s there was a flurry of arm puppets that appeared, mostly at fairs. We bought ours at the California State Fair in 82. It was like a yellow monkey with slack arms and velcro on the hands so it would appear to be holding on to you. Great party starter in the day. Don't remember what happened to the little feller.

  • So when are you going to talk about the dark crystal age of resistance????

  • thats why i buy 200+ blades at a time. i hate slightly dull blades so i am always changing them

  • 30:06 should we be watching this?

  • That was so much fun! I love puppets!

  • I think the blue tongue works. He can always joke about being part giraffe on his grand mothers side of the family. And you can sew him Klingon baldric like worfs with those patches.

  • Seriously this puppet is amazing. Exactly how a puppet should look. Curse import duty.

  • Master of puppets

  • Adam, please stick to your day job!

  • Hey Adam! sewing tip: Don't load your needle with more thread than you would pull further from your hand to elbow - (I hope that makes sense) like disposable blades, you'll have to reload your needle more often, but there's no reason to make sweeping pulls behind or up to your head. It'll save a lot of mechanical effort and go even faster!

  • puppets can be expensive...apart from mine which are around 200£ for a Mongrels style puppet...i say around because the price is depending on the puppet ^^ yeah so you can get it even cheaper!

  • One day his body will be found, pale and distorted, lying next to what looks like the makings of a lightsabre made from pasta and an etcha sketch.

  • I like that the Puppet has no Fur on his Face, it is if he had to shave in order to get a job. "We don't make mistakes -- we just have happy accidents."

  • I know that there’s a lot to it including peoples jobs and the workload but I hope that as lockdown ends and it’s safer to be around each other we don’t completely lose Adam’s solo camera work. I’ve come to really enjoy the dialogue Adam has with himself/the camera which is different when others are around.

    • Not to worry. We will be filming some of Adam's One Day Builds -- the advantage to that is that Adam can focus on what he's doing and not worry about framing -- but right now, we are planning for Adam to be filming the majority of his videos himself, as he's been doing!

  • I'd love to see your "gifts for makers" video!

  • What absolute sadist sends out yellow pins with a yellow fabric?!

    • I was wondering that. I was calling the kit makers bastards for that one.

  • That was the most fun I have had since quarantine started. Thanks Adam!

  • New tv show "Muppet Makers". Muppets using power tools, a muppet trying to use glue,

  • That was delightful to watch. Laughing at you talking to the little fella at each stage...who wouldn't?

  • Give him a Bajoran Nose Ridge to cover the seam and he'll look great! 😂

  • The head before the eyes and arms reminded me a little of Idy and Ody from Captain EO.

  • Watching this channel while I got to sleep had my brain telling me I had Adams hair in my dreams. I was arguing with my regular Uber driver about the direction I was cutting acrylic with my sandwich knife. ... my therapist needs your number tested.

  • 19:05 too impatient you are, master Jedi...

  • A seam-ripper is a beautifully designed tool. It's just a small curved knife, but then some genius stuck a little ball on it to help hold the fabric apart for you. They're wonderful.

  • I want one of the Chickens from the Muppets.

  • Hi Adam, perhaps you may find ease in turning things by getting a tool called a tube turner. It is used to turn tubes as thin as spaghetti straps for dresses or the corded tubing used to make frog closures on Asian style clothing. You should be able to find them in a higher-end dressmaking supply or haberdashery. I doubt the lower end fabric shops would have them. They are basically a latch hook on one end of a wire and a ring on the other to hold onto as you pull it.

  • I'd love for, if there are more one-day puppet builds, this to be a build-along stream or real-time video. I find so much of my energy for my craft in sharing the space and passion with others, and I feel like having this in the bg of a craft session (or even just the establishing of the community in a chat section) would be so helpful.

  • Does anyone else want to see a Jamie mustache on the puppet?

  • seeing Adam puppeteering has made my life so much better

  • If you want to see some more hand stitching magic go visit Bernadette Banner's page

  • Does he really need a tongue? Isn't he mouthy enough already :-)

  • My Mum used to make costumes for plays and circuses. All kinds of hats, gloves, coats and pants. I used to help her do the sewing, and most things were sewn inside out. I was always excited to see how they would look when they were turned right side out. :-)

  • The one he made if $55. totally worth it.

  • 20:55 I was rolling on the floor I know exactly what he's talking about

  • You could add a different color strip of fleece to cover the seem on his face and go down his back. Kinda like a mohawk.

  • Another method for right-side-outing is to start your stitch with a very long thread tail that you can use to pull out through the opening when you're done.

  • 21:00 I have a job as a cleaner and sometimes when I'm using bleach while cleaning, I can't help but enjoy the little kick it gives your brain.

  • I totally forgot! In kindergarten an author and illustrator came and read a book to us and we got to make puppets of the characters lol I think it was a very basic one but it was fun and I used that puppet to make my nieces laugh, good memories! I love Adam can still find joy in it!

  • If he had wings, he'd be Woodstock!

  • You forgot the third category of people who are utterly creeped out by puppets

  • So, give him bushy eyebrows to hide the seam?

  • puppets: meh. MUPPETS: YES!

  • What’s on Adam’s forearm?

    • @Adam Savage’s Tested well! I hope it works again!

    • It's a brace to help with his tennis elbow. It worked for him a few years ago.

    • @tanshihus1 no. Other arm. Like a band or something.

    • You mean the tattoo of a scale?

  • You'll be making skeksis' in no time.

  • Didn't have time to watch the whole video but just the few moments of seeing the completed puppet brought joy to my day.

  • "You might have seen, I even have a couple Kermit the Frog puppets in my collection.." Why does this just sound like Adam telling us about a dark secret?

  • Color me interested in this set.

  • Now imagine that thing with the realistic eyes from a while back...

  • Ok its Colonel Sanders in a Grey suit and glasses all he needs is a bucket of chicken ,lol.

  • Aaaaaaand now I have to make one.

  • Brilliant! You really brought him to life with your puppeteering too ❤️

  • With in moments of watching this video I went and order the "Blip" kit with all the fixings. Super great kit for an unbelievable price. Can Not wait to build this.

  • Hi Adam l know you like tools ,you should try to use curve needles. And by the way i love your work.😐🇵🇹👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

  • who rang the doorbell??

  • That explains all your xmen powers.

  • Every puppeteer watching: OK, now you completed the tutorial level, let's address how the *upper* head should reamin stationary and the *lower* jaw should move... i.e. "arm burn" 😅 - as a hobbyist I forgot the proper term; but it took me quite some painful time to get the movement somewhat realistic, especially with my "mini me" narrator...EDIT: I wonder how many more people will discover the art of puppetry thorugh these kits...

  • puppets must be one of the oldest human inventions... there's something innate about it

  • Either the table is wobbly or the camera is...

  • It was an absolute delight to see you make this puppet! I am hopefully going to make one too this summer. Thx for your awsome content!

  • “Depressed? I’m the furthest thing from depressed. I mean, look at what I’ve accomplished. Do you see him? Do you think a depressed person could make this? No.”

    • Being depressed doesn't mean you can't be creative. Just means there are things happening to you that make life a struggle. Creating an object is one of many ways to deal with depression. The euphoria that you experience when you accomplish what you set out to do is a great reliever of depression. So yes, if you are depressed, you can make this. Stop telling yourself that you can't. That leads to more depression.
